Whiplash
Whiplash is the most common injury resulting from a car accident.
Definition:
Whiplash occurs when the head and neck are "whipped" from a sudden jerking motion. The muscles and ligaments go beyond there normal range of motion, thus becoming injured.
Causes:
Whiplash results from auto accidents when the head is suddenly thrown forwards and backwards.
Sports injuries are another common cause of whiplash injuries.
Symptoms:
Stiffness and pain in the neck, shoulders, and head often are felt in the first few days following a whiplash injury. The pain goes away, and then may return with stiffness a few days later.

- Neck pain and stiffness comes back after there has been resolution.
- The pain goes into your shoulders or arms.
- You have aching pains when you move your head.
- You have numbness, tingling, or weakness in your arms or hands.
